Step 1: Clean and disinfect the wound with a suitable antiseptic
Before treating a wound, it is essential to wash your hands thoroughly with clean water and soap for at least 30 seconds.
Cleansing the wound is an essential first step to promote good healing. It is essential to clean the wound with clear, lukewarm water to remove any blood or debris that may be present (e.g. stones, etc.)
You can also use an antiseptic if there is no running water.
Step 2: Protect the wound with a protective dressing
Next, choose a dressing that will protect the wound from dirt and bacteria to prevent any risk of infection. At each dressing change, it is important to clean the wound according to step 1. Treatment must continue until the wound has healed, which can take up to two weeks in the case of a superficial wound.

Step 3: Apply a healing dressing
Once the bleeding has stopped, wound-healing dressings are recommended for treating the wound. Thanks to their technology, they provide relief and comfort until the injury has healed.

When to consult for a wound?
If you have a condition such as diabetes, are immunocompromised, or if you notice signs of infection or a lack of healing within 6 days of your injury, consult a doctor.
In the event of a serious wound (an open, deep or extensive wound, or a wound on the face or chest), it is essential to seek medical advice. The healthcare professional will provide you with the appropriate treatment depending on the type of wound you have. In some cases, antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent a possible infection.
